The collaboration
Nari Ward, Perez Art Museum Miami

The brief
Perez Art Museum asked Third Drawer Down Studio to design a beautiful keepsake tea towel with embroidery to sit along side a collection of limited plate designs for their Nari Ward Exhibition. Designs exclusively in conjunction with the Nari Ward: Sunsplashed exhibition that took place at the Perez Art Museum Miami in the Fall of 2015.

The artist
Nari Ward (b. 1963, St. Andrew, Jamaica; lives and works in New York) graduated with a BA  from City University of New York, Hunter College in 1991 and an MFA from City University of New York, Brooklyn College in 1992. Greatly influenced by his geographical surroundings, his dramatic sculptural installations are composed of systematically collected material from his urban neighborhood.  By revealing the numerous emotions inherent within found everyday objects, Ward’s works examine issues surrounding race, poverty, and consumer culture.
